KuCoin exchange returned 84% of the stolen $280 million

The KuCoin cryptocurrency exchange returned most of the funds stolen by hackers in September of this year. This was announced by the CEO of the platform Johnny Liu.

“At the moment, 84% of assets have been recovered using blockchain transaction tracking, smart contract updates and legal recovery,” wrote Johnny Liu.

According to him, the details of the process will be disclosed after the end of the investigative actions.

KuCoin has resumed servicing 176 tokens. The remaining funds will be available until November 22. The CEO of the exchange thanked everyone who supported the platform during the incident.

Recall that on September 26, KuCoin reported the unauthorized withdrawal of bitcoin, ERC-20 tokens and other assets from the exchange’s hot wallets. Analysts estimated the damage from the hack at $280 million.

In early October, Johnny Liu said that the platform had identified the hacking suspects and secured an additional $64 million in their addresses.
